Individual workshops
Individual workshops are focusses introductions to selected ceramics techniques. These can be taken as stand alone workshops or compliment skills gained on a wheel throwing course. Being equally well suited for those where sustained availability of a course might be a challenge.
Technique focussed workshops are designed to engage a broader set of processes within ceramics practice. These include decorative approaches stepping away from glazed surfaces.

Kurinuki carved vessels workshop
This two session workshop we step into the traditional Japanese technique Kurinuki. A process which offers great range of options across surface and form.
Both white and black professional grade clays are available. Selected for their contrasting reactions to light and shadow.
To start we take a rough pinched clay form, carving the surface with a range of ceramic tools to develop a 'language' of marks to define the character of the piece. With a period of drying the clay can then be carved from within, creating a refined final object worthy of any shelf.
This is a technique which rewards slowing down and provides plenty of time to connect with object making. The target outcome is two completed forms. After the workshop the pieces will be high fired before collection.
This workshop is planned across two sessions, each 2 hours in duration. If you are interested in booking dates or for more information you are invited to get in touch.
This two part workshop is £140 per person. Inclusive of all materials and kiln firings.
*Discount applicable when in conjunction with a course.

Detail focussed wheel throwing
This two session workshop focusses on the details of rim and foot in wheel throwing. By utilising small scale working we can maximise experimentations and generate a range of test pieces. Focussing attention on the subtle detail changes which can be transformational and elevate the character of a piece.
Working with small pieces allows for attention to hone in on specifics, direction, flow and width. In the second session we will take the time to refocus on the underside.
This two part workshop is £140 per person. Inclusive of all materials and kiln firings for up to 6 selected pieces. This includes a glazing service where choice glazes are applied following the workshop.
This workshop is for makers with some prior experience in wheel throwing fundamentals. For those new to wheel throwing a Taster session would offer the best introduction to enable progression to the details workshop.
*Discount applicable when in conjunction with a course. See discount details here.
