Wheel throwing Taster workshop (Single)
The purpose of the taster session is to give hands-on experience of making wheel thrown ceramics. Getting a sense of the studio and the range of possibilities presented by the clay material. This workshop includes a practical introduction to the core elements of wheel throwing, focussing on the fundamental skill of forming a cylinder. With guidance on how to centre the clay, open the form, lift the walls and finally manipulate the form to create your finished work.
Group sizes are limited to four meaning there is plenty of scope for one-to-one tuition and technical advice. Following the session the pieces are fired twice with selected glazes added. Once complete collection is arranged from the studio.
The Taster workshop is £70 per person.
Two hours in duration. Inclusive of all materials and firings.

Wheel throwing Taster workshop (Double)
The Double Taster extends upon the single Taster with trimming. Covering the core skills of centring, opening up, lifting the walls and forming. Then advancing into the process of wheel trimming where the foot of the piece of formed. This process refines the form and completes the aesthetic.
On completion of trimming the same leather hard stage presents the possibility of carved texture surface design which interacts where glaze is applied over.
To finish we select the glaze for application after the workshop, from the range of in-house studio glazes available.
