Northumberland Ceramics Workshops

Creative choices give to life and form to handmade ceramic objects. Giving a unique understanding of those objects made and known since their earliest moments. 

Wheel throwing workshops are now extended to become available at the meeting place of Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. With ceramics workshops delivered at the picturesque setting of Ravn Clay studio pottery, near Coldstream, Northumberland. Situated alongside the Heatherslaw Corn Mill.

You are invited to grow new creative skills through the hands-on enjoyment of wheel thrown ceramic ware. This will include understanding how to centre a ball of clay, opening it up, then lifting to give height and shaping the form. Finally comes the foot trimming and then surface techniques are applied. Firings and glazing is all that remain before your work can be taken away and enjoyed once again.

In addition to courses there are one-off Taster workshops available. Meeting the need for those with less time to commitment early on with their encounters with ceramics.
