Ceramic arts workshops
James has recently taught ceramics for more than three years in a multi-disciplinary creative education workshop in Hong Kong. Specialising in core ceramics skills of wheel throwing, coil building and slab building techniques.
James has a Masters in Ceramics from the National Glass Centre abd a BA in Fine Art from Norwich School of Art and Design.
Workshops will take a project-based approach where students determine their own creative path with guidance and tuition. Significant one-to-one attention will be provided with small group sizes.
Workshops take an all-round creative approach to making including drawing which he has taught extensively in the past.
We have a bright and airy studio within St Margarets House in Edinburgh.

Beginner throwing and glazing sessions
£170 pp for 6 weeks course (limited to 3 participants)
Saturday daytime sessions, 2 hours tuition each week (10:30-12:30pm or 2:30-4:30pm)
Participants will develop wheel throwing skills to create the fundamental cylinder form by centring, opening and lifting the walls of the pot. Extend >> [See CMW desriptions, Matt Blakeley workshop write-ups, ]
Course outcomes: Participants will take away three final thrown and glazed pieces.
Intermediate throwing and glazing session
£220 pp for 8 weeks course (limited to 3 participants)
Weekday evening sessions, 2 hours tuition each week (7:00-9:00pm)
Participants creating more advanced forms on the potter’s wheel, progressing beyond the skill of cylinder throwing. Learning multiple ways, it can be used as a starting point for advanced forms. Extend >>

All prices shown are inclusive of materials, glazing and firing (extra firings completed at addition cost)
